Repair Your Air Conditioner Unit

I live in the southern United States. This part of the country experiences extremely hot summers. Therefore, my air conditioner is an important fixture in my home. A few years ago, it unexpectedly stopped working one balmy July day. The temperatures in my home quickly became unbearable. In order to get relief from the sweltering temperatures, I contacted a local HVAC contractor. This individual came to my home and inspected my air conditioning unit. After his inspection, he told me that he only needed to make a simple repair to my system. In a few minutes, I had a working air conditioning unit again. On this blog, you will discover the most common types of repairs completed on air conditioning systems.

Huge Mistakes To Avoid During A Heating Emergency

Just as you are all snuggled up nice and toasty inside of your home away from the blustery cold outside, your heater stops working. Unfortunately, home heating systems are under more stress the colder it is outdoors, which means if your heater is going to quit, it will likely be at the coldest point of the year. While heater repairs specialists and HVAC repair technicians are always available almost around the clock in the winter because of this, you still may have to wait a while for your heat to be repaired. While you are waiting inside your home without heat, don't make these costly mistakes that could put you and your family in danger.

Mistake: Using an open oven to heat your home while you're sleeping.

Why? The inside of an electric oven operates much the same as an electric heater without the fan. Therefore, propping open the door and cranking up the oven temperature will probably be one of your first attempts to keep the house warm. While this is fine to do while you are in the kitchen supervising the open oven, it is never a good idea to leave an open oven without supervision. For one, if you have pets or small children, they could easily get burned if they touch the oven door. Two, the oven and the surrounding kitchen fixtures can get super hot of the oven door is left open for long periods.

Mistake: Choosing to build a fire in a wood stove that has not been used in a long time.

Why? If you have a wood-burning stove in your home that you have kept in place primarily because it is an excellent secondary heat source in an emergency, you will no doubt be ready to build a fire if your main system goes down. However, it is never a good idea to build a fire in a wood stove if it has not been properly cleaned and maintained over the years. There could be debris in the stove pipes or chimney that could cause a fire.

Mistake: Using steam from a hot shower to heat a small part of the house.

Why? If you have a master bedroom with a bath, you will likely consider gathering everyone into that one room and turning on the hot shower to fill the room with steam and a little heat. Steam is a good heat source, but it is not a good heat source in an enclosed space with no ventilation. You could inadvertently cause water damage on drywall and other home elements.
